For example, my new assistant was scheduled to start on Monday. Of course I planned out my most "I'm super professional, but fun and fashion-y and you're going to think I'm the best boss you've ever had" ensemble. I had also promised I would meet her at the front door to greet her at 8 AM and let her into the Fort Knox that is our building. So when Mini had her Exorcist moment at 7:33, needless to say I don't think I had the most "Mother of the Year" reaction. I'm pretty sure it went a little something like this: "FUCK! SONOFABITCH!!! Oh, sorry honey, not you. You're okay. Poor boo-boo. Mommy's sorry. MISTER!!! Help! Help me! I don't care that you're naked and fresh out of the shower, I CAN NOT get vom on my dress!! Can you please come clean off Mini so I can pick her up?" (all of this said while rubbing Mini on the arm and not actually picking her up to soothe her. WTF is WRONG with me??)
Luckily, my Mister jumped in and took over so that I could comfort Mini without getting any bodily fluids on me (for once). I gave Mini a "purple poppy" and put on a new episode of "Fresh Beat Band" and she was good to go. I got to work mere moments before my new assistant did and I think that after three days, she may still be under the illusion that I have my ish together as a full time working mom. I give THAT misconception about another week before she figures me out. Perhaps not even. I think I caught her giving my mess of a desk the side-eye. F.
In other news, I am heading to San Fran in a few days for the first time ever and couldn't be more excited! It's technically for work, but I have a bestie from my heady Atlanta days who now lives out there so I am confident that shenanigans will be on the menu for the weekend! And I am DUE for some shenanigans, friends. Overdue, some might say. (Some being ME) Pop goes the bubbly, fo sho!
